Sea Turtle Wool Appliqué
1 JulMy 2020 designs have been beach focused. We were blessed to visit and stay with friends Lynne and Steve in Flagler Beach in February while doing a Trunk Show and Class with the Racing Fingers Quilt Guild.
My first Sea Urtle design turned out pretty big.

I redesigned the Sea Turtle for our Fun in the Sun stay at home and stitch Summer Camp with the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum. #sqtm

All this time I’ve had a “tiny” Sea Turtle on my mind and at least one cutout. I’ve actually started three Mini Sea Turtle Wool Appliqué or Wool and Cotton versions. I’d love to know your favorite! #prettypennyprecuts

Fun in the Sun Stay at Home and Stitch Summer Camp with the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum and Pretty Penny Precuts
20 JunI was honored to be asked to curate a series of wool appliqué projects for the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum in Carrollton, Georgia USA. A little back story…the SQTM has offered Quilt Camp for stitchers aged 9-18, four week long sessions with one on one mentors. Needless to say there Quilt Camp is very successful and feel honored to know many of the dedicated quilters that give so generously of their time and talent. Facing the necessity to cancel Quilt Camp for 2020 due to our current health crisis related to the COVID 19 Virus the SQTM Board contacted me. This was an opportunity I just couldn’t pass up! I wanted to learn how to film stitching instruction for YouTube and these projects were perfect. Of course there is and was a learning curve. SQTM Board Member JoAnna Browning has done all the video editing. I’ve learned a lot and made plenty of mistakes but with one two week session behind us and half way through the second of four projects we are well on our way.
Fun in the Sun Stay at Home and Stitch Summer Camp with the Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum and Pretty Penny Precuts offers four wool appliqué hand stitching projects for beginning to advanced stitchers ages 9-99. Project Kits are still available and you can catch up at your own pace with YouTube project codes. #sqtm #prettypennyprecuts

It’s May! Tea Party Time!!!
5 May
May is our annual Tea and Stitches Tea Party. This year we will be up cycling a Teacup and Saucer or Teaspoon into a Pincushion! I just love useful sewing notions. I can’t wait to see what our Tea Party guests design.

Die Cut Appliqué Minion
20 Nov
Isn’t this little Minion Pincushion cute? He is an example of me being derailed. Does that ever happen to you? Needless to say the project list is long. But sometimes you just have to stop and do something fun or silly. This Minion is my prototype 1. I am working out a method to create my Minions from my die cuts and of course felted wool. Special thanks to my friend Evie for her inspiration and her Farmers Wife block for display. Put Free Minion Pincushion in your search engine and patterns by others are sure to come up. Happy Stitching!
Stitching Gifts for Sewing Friends
1 DecDo you have handmade gifts planned for your sewing friends? Locked in my mind forever are these words from my lovely mother Annette “if I can’t eat it, wear it or spend it I don’t want it!” LOL. To this end I created this little Scissor Holder Needle Minder combination. Hope you can fit in plenty of stitching with your Christmas preparations.
Name Tags
9 NovDo you have occasion to wear a name tag? I participate in several stitching groups and name tags are encouraged. Sizzix has a number of label dies that make wonderful name tags. Here is how I prepare my name tag: fuse fabric to both sides of Peltex then die cut desired shape. Apply white glue to the side/perimeter, it’s about 1/8″ and dust with your favorite fine glitter. Yes you could stitch around the edge, but the glue and glitter is so quick and accents the edge without overpowering. Select your favorite Sizzix Flower Layer die and make an embellishment for your name tag. Use a Pigma Pen or other permanent none running ink pen to write your name. I usually use a corsage pin to pin my name tag to my garment.
Met with the Pins and Needles group and they made Name Tags from kits I prepared.
